Clutterless

Clutterless

I hate clutter. Anyone who knows me knows that my desk has very few things on it. I don’t own many tchotchkes. I’d rather own one perfect item than ten fine things. Marie Kondo changed our lives. She burst onto the scene in 2011 and took the world by storm cleaning it up one room at a time. I read her book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and it was transformative. She created the perfect system to simplify the clutter in our homes and help us get organized. We all needed her, and it’s no wonder that she was listed as one of Time’s “100 Most Influential People” in 2015. The thing I love most about her system (the KonMari method) is that everything you surround yourself with should “spark joy”. How simple and how profound. I think a lot of people are wondering how we can the KonMari method in every aspect of our lives.

What if we surrounded ourselves only with people who sparked joy?

What if we only had partners in our business who sparked joy?

What if we only worked with clients who sparked joy?

What if we only filled our minds with thoughts that sparked joy?

Sometimes, we get so caught up in the weeds that we lose perspective on all of the important things that make us happy.

We’ve all been spending a lot more time at home. In the past week, I’ve spoken with many clients and friends and they’re all saying the same thing. They are much happier because they have taken this time to declutter. Their minds. Their homes. Their business. They have been spending time prioritizing and decluttering. If it doesn’t spark joy, throw it out or give it away. It’s actually not that complicated.

Let’s do this!
